Nail art; Is it summer yet?

Nail art is something I find totally incredible.  I love looking at designs and ways to execute them & try to replicate them myself.  Even watching the manicurists put the tiny, dainty flowers on my friends' nails is just fascinating.  Hmmmm . . . I am unusually wordless today.  I really must be tired!  Haha

My roommate & I were flipping through her newest? Cosmopolitan magazine and found this:

And heeere's my take on it!
Can you feel the sand between your toes and hear the waves crashing? :-)
I decided to add a mini star from my bottle of Jindie Nails "Fantastical"
I was going to attempt to freehand a star using a toothpick, but something
was telling me I'd end up ruining the design.
So I opened Fantastical and the little guy was right there waiting for me! ;-)
Sand Tropez (what else?!), French White Tip, Skyline Blue, and  Milani Twinkle
I hope you lovely ladies are inspired to try some nail art of your own . . . don't expect perfection (mine was nowhere near the magazine photo), but you might surprise yourself!  And besides, since we're surrounded by non-lacquerheads in our daily lives, they're guaranteed to be wow-ed no matter what. :-)

    1. Haha, weeell, I gotta say I *did* think of you while writing it, but I think a lot of lacquer ladies (esp. those who blog) feel a nebulous fear of nail art, so I wanted to encourage all 6 of you who might read this. ;-)
Thank you for the kind compliment! Um, I myself am not entirely sure how I made you feel the sand and hear the waves...I'm rather amazed at the powers of my post! ;P
J/K...it was actually rather easy. I just laid down a coat of Sand Tropez, then took the white and made an uneven boundary about halfway down & filled in the lower half white - it's best if it doesn't go straight across - since water is well, flow-ey. ;-) Then took the light blue and again made an uneven line then filled in to the tip. Finished by dabbing the glitter on. I used the normal bottle brushes, but I think sponging the colors on with a tiny piece of makeup sponge & tweezer would give a better effect.

    2. whatever...at least 7 people will read ;) KIDDING! Why haven't you posted any of your manis on Polish Aholics Anonymous? You need to start pimping your blog and get some more readers so they can be amazed by your skills!

    3. No, 6 is correct because Melissa followed me with her personal Google profile and then with her blogger profile. ;-)
I suppose I should...I guess I just feel my posts (and especially my nail appearance) aren't good enough yet.

    1. Awww, thank you! I'm pleased to hear my rendition measures up to the REAL thing! :-D
Btw, this was *not* my way of blatantly ignoring your request to see Malaga Wine - I have it on right now and will be taking photos tomorrow after work to do a post about it. :-)

  3. A nebulous fear of nail art is pretty much it, lol. I've had two or three ill-fated attempts and while I believe practice does make perfect, it's just not my bag, baybay. Hur. I'm content to watch and admire from the sidelines and stick to one color per nail. This looks awesome and I love your little star AND your intrepidness :) I forsee great things from you :)

    1. I'm with you, Liesl. I've done the accent nail on occasion, and a little sticker here and there, but that's about it. And I thought THAT was advanced! :P

    2. Awwwww thank you, Liesl! :-D Although I didn't have much to do with the star; it was pretty much just fish n' stick. ;-)
I hear ya - nail art isn't everyone's happy place (not even mine sometimes!). Besides, your one color per nail is always beautiful and maddeningly PERFECT, so you've got a great thing going on there!
Gosh, remind me to never turn off email comment notifications again...I was sick of getting notified of my replies & figured I would be more than able to just find them on my own. As a result, I didn't see these 'til now. :-/

    3. No worries! You get around to replying when you get around to it, ya know? I'm so obsessed with watching my stats that I seldom miss a comment and I *try* to reply to everything within 24 hours. Thanks for the sweet compliment on my manicureseseses. You should check out some of my earliest stuff. Heck, you should check out some of my late 2012 stuff. I haven't been "good" for very long. <3

    4. I guess I should clarify - I was sick of getting emails about my OWN comments, NOT comments from you guys! I love those & anxiously await them. :D Btw, is there a way to get notifications when say, I comment on your blog and you reply back? 'Cuz I can never remember which posts I've commented on!
You're welcome. :-) I dunno, I'm pretty certain the early ones are still waaaay better than mine will ever be.
