Mild taco - er - holo sauce!

I don't know what is with me lately, but blogging has obviously been on the back burner.  This is another pre (or rather, mid) production mani.  Gah, I would LOVE to have those long, gorgeous nails back!  I think I need to start taking biotin because they're just not growing.  A few people have extolled the benefits of Duri Rejuvacote, but on the other hand (DOUBLE pun intended - it's also a Fiddler line) I've also seen a few posts from people whose nails have lifted off the nail bed after using it.  I don't wanna risk having that reaction!  Well, enough complaining . . . I give you some holo sauce: China Glaze Collide Into You + Hits So Unique!

When I first saw the China Glaze Hologlam collex, alarms immediately went off and told me I needed to snatch them all & PRONTO, because I was thinking back to the highly sought after ChG Text in Color collex, but as we probably all know by now, their most recent attempt at holos falls far short of the high standard set by Text in Color.  Even though I was fully aware that they're not BLAM! in yo face holo, I still had a yearning for Collide Into You.  Can't.resist.the plums.

It's a bit of a dusty violet plumy color in the shade, or incandescent light.  Still very pretty!  The application was great too: standard base coat, one coat would've been passable, but I went with two for richer color. :-)  And the other thing I've noticed about holos: they dry really fast!  Being a rather impatient person, I love that!  hehe

Mmmm . . . sparkly holo duochrome goodness!  I love the Hits Mari Moon Speciallita Holografico collection . . . the fact that there is not only some fairly decent holo particles, but also duochrome pigments make these my two favorite finishes in one. YUM.  So Unique is a rich burgundy that shifts to a dark purple and brownish oxblood shade.  Like I said, YUM.
(Click here to see some bottle shots that clearly show the color shifts.)

I really can't believe I haven't done a full mani with So Unique nor the other one I got in my very first Llarowe order, Super Cute.  For now, Google it.  You won't regret it.  Unfortunately, I was just checking Llarowe, and it appears they no longer have this collection. :-(  But the Mari Moon duochromes ARE still there, and they're stunning as well!
Oh, I know what point I was trying to make: the reason I did this as an accent nail and have not done full manis are because the bottles are only 6 mL (as opposed to the usual 15 or so), ergo I feel I need to conserve the beauty! lol
But I seriously need to use them sometime.  Otherwise it's like those people that buy or have inherited fine china only to put it in a china cabinet.

So Unique also had an excellent 2 coat formula, although their rather cantankerous chunky brushes make the neat half-moon application a bit of a trick.

I just love this mani.  Despite the milder holo effect, they are both lovely rich polishes that make me think of regal robes and the tapestries in Spanish castles.

Thanks for stopping by & enjoy your Saturday! :-D

  2. A holo with an even MOAR holo accent!! I love it! And I'm a firm believer that any holo is a good holo. The plum colors are just gorgie, and quite frankly, I can't believe I don't have a holo in this shade. Must remedy. I'm also a firm believer in actually wearing your htfs and vhtfs so you go rock a full So Unique mani! Re. Rejuvacote, I think they instruct folks to overuse it, personally. I've only ever used it as a basecoat and I'm very careful not to touch my skin or cutes. Try it for a week. Nails lifting off the plate are a sign of some underlying condition that something in the Rejuvacote exacerbated and if that it doesn't sound like it's that common... If it was, it would have been taken off the market :) And, if you start to notice something untoward happening, stop using it. But I say give it 5-7 days.

    1. TRUE! Holos are just UHmazing...they seriously blow my mind! Oooh, you totally do need to find a plum holo. I've wanted that Dance Legend (Optical Illusion) forEVER, but they fly off the Llarowe shelves almost as fast as EP's did, and they're more than prefer to spend. But soooo stunning!
Yes, we SHALL wear our rare polishes!!! :-D And I think I'll have to start looking in earnest for Rejuvacote. I know Melissa or somebody mentioned Wal-Mart is supposedly carrying it now, but up here in "the sticks," I'm sure we'll be the last ones to get it. Boo. :-(

  3. And in my completely non professional state, I'd recommend Rejuvacote over Biotin because Zi've heard too many reports of a cystic acne dude effect... The options are yours to weigh, my dear :)

    2. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! "cystic acne dude effect..." ROFL!!! :P It sounds like some strange superhero: Cystic Acne Dude to the rescue! Dun dun dun DUN!
Uhhh yeah, I think I'll steer clear of biotin if that's the case, because as I've mentioned before, I already have enough adult acne issues to take care of the entire population on MN!

  4. Pretty, pretty, pretty! I have heard more good things than bad about Rejuvacote. And I agree with Liesl, I think those people have other underlying issues. The one person I just read about said they have something up with their Thyroid and someone mentioned that problems with the nails can happen as a result. You have beautiful nails no matter what, so you do what you feel is best:)

    1. Thank you Essie!! I do love this shade, and when you add holo PLUS duochrome, BAM! You could push me over with a feather! ;-) Ahh yeah, I think I did read that same thread, but I just wasn't sure if she had a confirmed diagnosis or just thought that could be it. Anyhoo, I think I will give DR a try. :-) Awwwww you are too sweet! YOU'RE the one with the beautiful nails though!

    1. Awwwwww thank you SO MUCH, Clare! :-D That really means a lot - it's nice to know people appreciate my writing style & sense of humor...and that you think I have an eye for polish pairings. ;-) I just love making people laugh!
Yeah that collection is HUGE. Holy moly. And how nice that you got them on sale!! I actually got CIY for a low price too, otherwise I probably wouldn't have shelled out for it. I forgot to mention in the post that Hits is kinda the brand that I've decided to "collect" like some people collect Lynnderella or EP or whatever. I just think they have a lot of amazing duochromes and I LOVE me a good international brand! So if you get a chance, pick one of 'em up! Esp. the duos with holo, like So Unique. :-) Thank you again for your very kind words!!!
